COMMUNITY OUTREACH

A Maze in Pottery loves being able to reach out beyond the studio and into the neighboring communities by volunteering and teaching at after school programs, senior centers, recreation facilities, and local businesses.

We strongly believe that pottery painting has a very therapeutic value!

We try to bring the gift of a painting to as many members of our community as we can, especially those most vulnerable to financial or situational disadvantages.

Non-Profit Charitable Organizations we have donated our time and materials to include:

  • Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital
  • Our customers helped us to prepare many gift boxes that were donated to bedridden children giving them the chance to work with their art therapist painting figurines and other pottery pieces.
  • Blythedale Children’s Hospital
  • Another organization we put our heart into, we regularly volunteer at the hospital by teaching multiple classes, from the 3-5 years old children’s classroom to the hospital’s after-school recreational program.
  • Ronald McDonald House Greater Hudson Valley
  • The Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley provides families with critically ill and traumatically injured children an atmosphere of comfort, hope, and courage, keeping them close to the care and resources they need.
  • Hayden House Emergency Residence and School
  • We also have continued our cooperation with the leader of Something Good in The World, who brings residents of this safe house to our studio for an art therapy session.
  • Mann Center
  • We are proud to share that this year we have created new partnerships and started serving many more kids and young adults in need. All year we have been teaching pottery painting to young girls from Mann Center, a Hawthorne residential treatment facility for boys and girls ages 12-21 who are in need of an open, loving, and supportive setting.
  • Abbott House
  • We volunteer our time and materials and work on creating a mini pottery studio at Abbott House, a nonprofit organization in Irvington serving foster children, children awaiting family reunification, youth with mental health issues, and adults with developmental disabilities (and their families). Since 2013 they have been taking care of unaccompanied children who crossed borders of the USA. The children travel hundreds and some over a thousand miles fleeing violence, poverty, hunger, and abuse, mainly from Central America.
  • Chappaqua Cares – Empty Bowls
  • This is already the fourth year we partnered with Chappaqua Cares and their fundraiser Empty Bowls to help raise over $115,000 to help fight food insecurity in Northern Westchester.
  • Ossining Children Center
  • WARC, PARC, Abilities Beyond Disabilities, Green Chimneys,

Those agencies are located in Westchester and neighboring counties. They support children, teens, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including individuals on the autism spectrum, and their families. Since 2010 we cooperate with them giving a special, discounted rate for their customers, who love to come to our studio for art therapy.

The A Maze in Pottery staff would like to thank all of our customers for their continued support and for choosing our studio to host your birthday parties of all ages, office parties, family entertainment, ladies nights out, date nights, bridal and baby showers, fundraisers and group outings by coming in and painting pottery.
